Gymnasts celebrate another successful season

Dover Gym Club’s winning streak continues as gymnasts in the Floor & Vault Squad have won another impressive haul of medals in their last three competitions.

Within seven weeks, 51 gymnasts from the club achieved 81 medals of which 28 were gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze. Many others finished in the top six of their categories.

The busy competition season started with an invitational competition in Tunbridge Wells on 24 April and another in Gravesend on 15 May.

The Kent Floor & Vault Championships took place on 11/12 June at Mote Park in Maidstone where Dover Gym Club created no less than 13 gold medal winning county champions. Many have also qualified to compete at the next level.

The following gymnasts all achieved two Gold medals in the recent competitions: Sydney Beatson; Grace Holman; Libby Holman; Libby Holness and Lacey Scrivener.

Jenny Edwards-Taylor, Head Floor & Vault Coach said: ‘To win medals and achieve success takes hard work and commitment, so I’m incredibly proud of all of our gymnasts, particularly in this, our 40th anniversary year.

‘We have a fantastic team of coaches and volunteers who run the club and our success is also a reflection of all their hard work.’

Dover Gym Club’s Floor & Vault Squad gets a three month break from competitions but will be busy in the next few weeks with the annual Summer Camp and practising new routines for the start of the autumn competition season.
